Purpose
This brief provides a current and comprehensive picture of how Tribal Nations are growing and diversifying their economies to strengthen their communities and cultures and provide Tribal citizens expanded opportunities to lead productive lives, the various contributions they are individually and collectively making to the broader U.S. economy, and how those contributions are increasing through Tribal Nations’ expanding exercise of their inherent rights as sovereign governments.
Synthesizing an unprecedented amount of current and recent Tribal, local, state-level, and national data generated between 2018 and 2026, it illustrates the universal advantages of supporting the acceleration of Tribal economic growth and draws a clear roadmap for other governments to do so through better policy, more resources, and government-to-government consultation and collaboration. This brief cites data contained in various studies featured in an online research catalogue maintained by the Coalition for Tribal Sovereignty (CTS).
